1. PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Nina Butieva is a Ukrainian contemporary painter and art educator based in Osaka, Japan.
Her professional artistic practice began in 2009. Her work focuses particularly on the sea, natural forces, movement, light, memory, peace and human resilience. Working primarily in oil painting, she explores the interaction between force and transformation through dynamic seascapes and contemporary figurative abstraction.
Since 2015, she has taught painting and developed independent educational programs for children and adults. She is the founder of Nina Butieva Art Studio, through which she has organized exhibitions, international art projects, workshops and cultural exchange initiatives.
Since 2021, she has represented Ukrainian artists internationally through the Art Beyond Boundaries project, including exhibitions in Tokyo and Spain.
Since relocating to Japan in 2022, she has developed an active artistic and cultural practice connecting Ukrainian and Japanese communities through exhibitions, educational programs, temple and shrine projects, peace initiatives and international art events.
Her work has been exhibited in Japan, Ukraine, Spain and other countries, and is held in private and institutional collections.
